The Binational Fulbright Commission in Jordan (JACEE) is pleased to welcome the 2025 U.S. Fulbright cohort, marking the start of another exciting year of academic and cultural exchange. The arrival activities included a series of engaging events such as the country orientation, English Teaching Assistant (ETA) workshop, student researchers’ workshop, Welcome Dinner, and a field trip.
During the country orientation, participants took part in sessions designed to deepen their understanding of Jordanian culture and society. They also engaged in discussions on navigating life in Jordan, community engagement, and opportunities for language learning.
The ETA workshop, led by scholar Nathan Carr and U.S. alum William Naugle, brought together guest speakers from host institutions and the Regional English Language Office (RELO). ETAs met their supervisors and discussed their upcoming placements while exchanging ideas with English Language Fellows (ELFs).
For the first time, JACEE organized a dedicated student researchers’ workshop, featuring sessions on project management and conducting research in Jordan, including data collection strategies and fieldwork challenges.
The Welcome Dinner, held at the Royal Academy for Culinary Arts—one of the ETA host institutions—brought together U.S. grantees, Jordanian alumni, host supervisors, and partners. U.S. Embassy Chargé d’Affaires Peter Shea delivered remarks welcoming the new grantees and celebrating the return of newly completed Jordanian alumni.
The orientation week concluded with a field trip to Al-Karak Castle and a scenic hike in Wadi Bin Hammad, offering the new cohort a first-hand experience of Jordan’s rich cultural and natural heritage.
The Commission looks forward to an impactful and rewarding year ahead for all U.S. Fulbright grantees in Jordan.
